I just heard of this new spot--
Location Name: the Mirth Factory
Tags: comedy club, improv comedy, theater, comedy school
Neighborhood: Emeri Park
Long Description: A small black box theater on the edge of the park. Known for producing several B-list comedians from it's improv comedy course, it is also a place to see a cheap show in St. Raymond. Several troupes of improv comedians perform every night with tickets at only $5. The performers rarely make any profit from the performances. The theater is made up of a few black curtained walls, two dozen threadbare red seats, and a paltry green room. It is also known colloquially as the MF, or less kindly by another phrase that MF could stand for.

I just heard of this new spot--
Location Name: Black Widow's Tattoo Parlour & Art Gallery -- colloquially known as 'B W'
Tags: "Tattoo Parlour" "Tattoo Studio" "Art Gallery"
Neighborhood: Little Ray
Long Description:
Located in the west wing of an aging minimart next to a greasy pizza joint, Black Widow Tattoo Parlour has been a neighborhood staple in one of Little Ray's more industrious corners since its founding in 2013. B W has recently undergone a series of renovations in celebration of its 10th anniversary as a successful business and has a reputation for being safe and clean. The vibe is like something out of a dark children's storybook. Every wall is primed with matte black paint and then covered in bright illustrations and paintings contributed by each of the shop's artists. There are also individual pieces available for purchase, which passers-by are encouraged to peruse by a large sign in the window that reads:
'We [heart] local artists.' There is a waiting area like a living room, complete with refreshments (food and drink from the mini-bar) and a large, flat-screen TV. The shop's proprietor, named Maude, is a woman of indiscriminate age with thick-framed spectacles, bright purple hair, and tattoos all over her body. She spends a lot of time watching streams of the Golden Girls from behind the front counter. Local legend has it that Maude started her business with money she received from her abusive husband's life insurance after his vehicle dropped mysteriously off the side of a cliff. If you ask her about it, she will grin toothily at you and tell you to mind your business.

I just heard of this new spot--
Location Name: Willowside Nursery
Tags: Garden Centre, Farmer's Market
Neighborhood: Suburbs
Long Description: Willowside Nursery lies on a sprawling lot in the suburbs, surrounded on two sides by the willows that inspired it's name back when it was just a small garden centre. It's main greenhouse is large and open year-round, and it has a wide patio to one side where plants suitable for the season can be stocked outdoors. In addition to plants, trees and gardening supplies, the greenhouse contains a pond section with pools of koi and goldfish. During the summer and early autumn a farmer's market occupies part of the large parking lot, and in the winter the greenhouse is filled with holiday ornaments and decorations. Willowside frequently hosts events from local environmental charities dedicated to things like encouraging local pollinators, seminars on identification of invasive species, and a turtle rescue.

I just heard of this new spot--
Location Name: Cuisinovation
Tags: Catering, Parties, Event Planning, Wedding Planning
Neighborhood: Commercial District
Long Description: Cuisinovation operates out of a large commercial building built on a corner lot. It has a single-floor main building and a two-story add-on that was built sometime after the main construction. The areas open to the public are comfortable and slightly upscale with brass fixtures and a sort of modern art decor. There are glass displays housing display goods, several nooks with comfortable armchairs and couches, and an impressive number of inspiration and swatch books in coffee-table styles.
Back of House is neat, tidy, and well equipped to handle industrial cooking, the building of 'sets' for events (like archways or the like), and a section for the staff with assigned lockers and refrigerators that usually have event leftovers for the taking. The delivery dock can be a bit chaotic, but it too is run with a tight precision and efficiency.
Cuisinovation is an excellent place for those looking for seasonal work, PT/FT work, or clients needing assistance with events of all sorts - they have a reputation for working with their clients to deliver a quality product within budget, but also with being honest. If something is not possible, they will tell you and then do their best to accommodate the next best option.

I just heard of this new spot--
Location Name: 6 Feet Under
Tags: Club, LGBTQA+ Friendly, Undergroound
Neighborhood:Commercial
Long Description: Sort of an open secret, 6 Fete Under is a popular local queer club that is quite literally underground; located in the basement level of what looks like a trendy cafe and restaurant, one would have to go around the corner and down a flight of stairs to enter. There's a single small, coffin shaped neon sign hanging above the stairs with the name of the club on it. It's a trendy sort of scene, with colorful lights and a minimalist decor. Along the walls boxy looking white couches surround short square tables. A wide dance floor takes up most of the center of the large room, with a DJ booth to one side, and a well stocked bar against the opposite wall. Most nights the place is 21 and over, but once a month 6 Feet Under opens its doors to minors aged 16-20.
