Ares has golden brown hair, bronze skin, brown eyes. He's 6'2," 190 lbs and lean, built for speed like a palomino stallion. His most distinguishing features are the tattoos on his arms and hands and legs. His last name is scrawled along his ribcage in delicate black cursive. The letters 'R A G E' decorate the knuckles of his right hand in faded black ink, 'S U R F' decorate the knuckles of the left. On top of collecting pieces from artists he admires, Ares' uses his own arms and legs as a canvas to practice on. Personality:
Moody with a capital 'M,' but don't take it personally -- Ares doesn't usually do personal. He's quiet and intense and severe and tends to carry himself separate from the rest of the world. Ares thinks of himself as a perpetual loner. He doesn't go out of his way to make friends and is generally uninterested in collecting any, but he is fiercely loyal where connections and bonds are made. Not the friend you invite to your toddler's birthday party, but the friend you call to help you hide a body.
Backstory:
Ares was born and spent the first eight years of his life with his mother and older brother in Vancouver, British Columbia. A St. Raymond native, Maia sent her boys back to live with their grandfather after falling on hard times in Vancouver. Ares lived with his grandfather in St. Raymond until he was sixteen, after which he traveled back to Vancouver to reconnect with his mother. He did not find her there but heard from a friend of hers that she'd moved to the island. He followed her trail to Victoria, to Nanaimo, and then to Tofino where he spent three years living out of a camper van taking odd jobs -- from teaching tourists to surf to working as a barista to mowing lawns.
He became an apprentice tattooist at eighteen and then took his skills on the road with him at twenty; touring around British Columbia, across Canada, and then along the eastern coast of the US. He's a perpetual transient but has returned to St. Raymond to bury his grandfather, and seeks answers now to secrets hidden in his mother's past.
