Readings

Querent

A Querent is a character who visited the Reader and received their first Minor Arcana card, unlocking their magic.

Initiant

An Initiant is a character who visited the Reader a second time and received a Court card, unlocking secondary magic. magic.

Auxiliary Card

Through training, this Querent has unlocked an additional facet of their magical understanding. They may unlock an additional minor arcana card and an associated arcana magic in any suit that they already have attunement (so someone with a wands card may purchase another wands power, but may not use an auxiliary card to gain new attunements). A querent may have as many auxiliary cards as they have readings (so one after first reading, two after second) and may claim an additional auxiliary card for each point in Arcane. There is no reading associated with this spell, but just a power gained after a deeper understanding of their magic. On turn-in, provide the card selected and the power for approval.

Suit Foretold

This indicates a character that used a Fortold Suit card to limit the options in their First Reading.

Value Foretold

This indicates a character that used a Fortold Value card to limit the options in their First Reading.

Suit Omened

This indicates a character that used an Omened Suit card to limit the options in their Reading.

Minor Glamour

Exposure to the Empty City has left its mark. This character may now have any number of superficial changes in color relating to their Empty City form, including unnatural hair and eye colors. For any changes that would alter body structure, please see Major Glamour.

Majour Glamour

Exposure to the Empty City has left its mark in a significant way. This Querent’s physical appearance has been changed to more closely resemble their Empty City form, including sharpened teeth, pointed ears, changes in pupil shape, or other changes to the body structure. For changes that are simply chromatic, please see Minor Glamour.

Greater Glamor

Exposure to the Empty City has left a mark on the querent in an impressive way. This Querent’s physical appearance has been changed to more closely resemble their Empty City form, including horns or antlers, fins, fur, tails, non-functioning wings or additional limbs, or other traits that do not otherwise compromise the bipedal body plan.

Courtly Glamour

Exposure to the Empty City has granted the ability to blend in. While this Querent is not using any magic, they will appear completely mundane, including removal of their card mark. However, the activation of any magic dispels the glamour for the rest of the scene.

Spark of Awareness

When in a proximity with another querent (or similar magic sources), this character may sense a shift in the elements that indicates magic is nearby. At this stage, it is a vague sense that answers "yes" or "no" if magic is nearby. In DMed threads, players may use spark of awareness to ask the DM if there is magic present.

Spark of Distinction

When in a proximity with another querent (or similar magic sources), this character may sense a shift in the elements that indicates magic is nearby. At this stage, querents can distinguish the arcane elements present, as well as the relative strength of the magic. In DMed threads, players may use spark of distinction to ask the DM if magic is present, what elements are active, and in what direction lies the source.
