With the introduction of Erem and its survivors, querents are now able to interact with various NPCs native to Erem and beyond! These threads are available as a means to facilitate training, gaining knowledge, and developing PC plotlines, and some may even be special missions with unique perks!
In order to facilitate the best NPC experience, the following guidelines are in place:
In order to facilitate the best NPC experience, the following guidelines are in place:
- NPC threads must have a set purpose beyond meet and greet. This can be as simple as 'My character needs their spell explained to me' or 'My character would like to learn about a term they read in a book', but there must be a set goal with the roleplay and once that goal is achieved, the scene ends. If a thread meanders for too long without reaching its set purpose, it will also end. These encounters are meant to facilitate a specific need and should not be exploratory in nature unless otherwise noted.
- Players may request one NPC interaction a month and may only have one outstanding interaction at a time--if your previous thread is still being tagged, you cannot request a new one. This is to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to interact with NPCs without overly burdening the DM team.
- Any DM may pilot any NPC, and no NPC is strictly played by one DM. As with Readings, you cannot request who plays out your NPC interaction, but we will try to keep in mind any continuity that needs to be observed.
- In lieu of a full thread, players may also request simple questions/actions answered by an NPC. If this is something they would freely answer in public, you can expect an answer right back! On their own these have no cooldown as long as your last question has been answered, but sometimes they may necessitate a thread.
