Name: Oliver Keeley
Birthday: December 29th, 1996
Pronouns/Gender: He/Him
Physical Description: Oliver does not pay attention to his looks. He is 5'9", and lightweight in a soft rather than athletic way, and has not worked out a day in his life. With pale skin and dark hair, his strikingly light hazel eyes with dark lashes would give the first impression of pretty rather than handsome. He has a faded scar that cuts across the freckles on the bridge of his nose and one cheek, and a bad habit of rubbing it when he is nervous. His hair is always a tousled mess, and he is incapable of dressing up more formally than jeans and t-shirts emblazoned with nerdy science or dinosaur jokes. If he ever leaves his apartment, it's usually with a set of noise-cancelling earbuds, and he always looks under-dressed when cold weather hits.
Occupation: Part time work at the natural history museum, part time video game streamer by the name of T-Rekt.
Personality: At first glance, Oliver is a timid pushover with a nervous, people-pleasing attitude that makes him seem smaller than he is. Most new things scare him to some extent, and he will panic and flee at the first sign of a confrontation. Whether he's anxious, happy, or deep in concentration, fidgeting is an unconscious act that is always present, usually small movements like plucking at hems, rubbing hands, or tapping fingers or feet. He is easy to embarrass and could not immediately recognize a double entendre if his life depended on it.
Yet when he is in his own space and surrounded by familiar, comfortable things, Oliver will become far more relaxed and amiable. He loves to engage in conversations as long as he doesn't have to look directly at the people he's speaking with, and has a warm smile and a gentle voice that has helped immensely with his video game streaming. As tense and self-conscious as he is out in the world, he approaches his passions with an honest delight, never showing a trace of ego when absolutely dominating challenges in video games with style and ease, and responding with happy amusement when he gets wreaked in turn.
Backstory: Oliver grew up in a cold, tiny town in northern Ontario. The winter he turned ten his mother was taking him home from ice skating on the river when their car slid off the road. He spent his birthday in the hospital recovering from surgery, she didn't survive. His father was deeply depressed, and Oliver, who had his mother's pretty eyes and dark hair, became a ghost in his own home. He became less outgoing, went to school, struggled to keep friends, and leapt forward in grades even as he fell behind in social skills.
He zipped through grade school, graduating early and with honours, and was offered a myriad of scholarships to choose from. Ultimately he attended a small university in southern Alberta, where he enthusiastically pursued his passion for all things Paleobiology, with ample video games on the side.
Oliver's education continued at a vigorous pace until he experienced a mental health crisis towards the end of his undergrad studies, nearly preventing him from completing his degree. While addressing the crisis, Oliver was finally diagnosed as autistic, and took some time off school to figure it all out. With a little bit of support from student services he soon returned to complete his undergrad work, and continued on for graduate studies. After finishing his masters degree he moved to St. Raymond to work at the natural history museum, which had caught his attention by having a remarkable number of original fossils of North American herbivorous theropods.
